At the invitation of Shihan Pierre Grondin, KWF representative from Reunion Island, and Sensei Sandip Vencatakistnen, KWF representative from Mauritius, Shihan Antonio Pereira carried out a series of events to promote the KWF in the Southern Indian Ocean.

1. International Technical Training Camp – Reunion Island

During the stay on Reunion Island, an international technical training camp was held, bringing together approximately 160 Kyokushin practitioners.

The event was an important moment for learning, sharing knowledge, and strengthening the bonds of friendship between practitioners from various countries, highlighting the spirit of unity and respect that characterizes Kyokushin.

2. TOKYO CUP 2026

Considered the largest Kyokushin championship in the Indian Ocean, this 2026 edition brought together more than 250 athletes in Kumite and Kata, male and female. Juniors, Seniors, and Veterans.

For the first time, the presence of several foreign delegations; Portugal, Japan, Angola, Canada, Mauritius, and Reunion Island. Shihan António Pereira served as the Supreme Judge of the competition.

3. Technical Seminars in Mauritius

After the TOKIO CUP 2026, Shihan António Pereira traveled to Mauritius to lead a series of technical seminars dedicated to Kihon, Kata, and Kumite in various cities across the country.

The program concluded with a special training session held on the iconic Flic en Flac beach, providing a moment of high technical, cultural, and human value in an excellent setting.

3. Reception at the States House by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Mauritius.

Last Saturday, July 18, 2026, the executive members of KWF Mauritius, accompanied by Shihan António Pereira, head of the Portugal and Brazil branch of KWF Kyokushin South America, the athletes and delegation that participated in the last Tokyo Cup 2026 International Cup, were invited to meet with the President of Mauritius, Mr. Dharam Gokhool.

It was a great opportunity to introduce KWF Mauritius to our President and our future projects to strengthen Kyokushin in Mauritius.

It is worth highlighting the receptiveness of the President to study the possibility of making a pilot project viable.
